Life is sweet

There’s an excellent movie on iPlayer. If it’s gone by the time you read this, then just get yourself a copy. It’s excellent. It’s called “Sugar”.

This isn’t a movie review post because I find movie reviews inordinately boring. They also fail to manage your expectations.

Sugar is about a young man from the Dominican Republic who tries to follow his dream to get to America and play baseball.

What I learned from the movie is that the most important thing is to do whatever you love with people around you that you like, who get you, and who allow you to be yourself. You don’t have to be the best at what you do. After all, only one person can be “the best” and given how many people there are in the world, you’re pretty much setting yourself up to fail. Plus, the shit you have to put up with when you are at the top, probably means it isn’t worth it after all.

All that matters is that you do what you love. Whatever that ends up looking like.
